In June 2007, Quality Line, the bus operating arm of Epsom Coaches, started operating its first ever double deck routes, 406 and 418. Ten brand new ADL Enviro 400 buses were purchased and have only recently come out of service on the same routes.   However, there was a problem. Whilst the workshop facilities has been moved in 2004, in anticipation that double deck buses were bound to come, the entrance and exit of the 1971 garage were not high enough to accommodate them.  With that in mind, the management team having been advised of the cost of a contractor raising the entry and exit, decided to do it themselves!  Led by then Commercial Director, Steve Whiteway, they organised two “team building” days and raised the doorways. Recently unearthed photographs, courtesy of Terry Torch have brought back memories of those pioneering times.

Our photograph shows Steve Whiteway, removing the old concrete beam, prior to installing the new steelwork.
