It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Peter Walsh on 12th January 2026.
Peter was a senior member of the Epsom Coaches driving team, in the 70’s and 80’s, operating all over the UK and Europe. He was particularly well known as the company’s driving instructor and trainer, getting literally hundred of drivers though their PSV (now PCV) test and ensuring they were always up to “Epsom” standards, throughout their driving careers. He also took an active role in the holidays and day trip programme, not only contributing ideas but also detailing itineraries, ensuring drivers had a firm grasp of the route and places of interest.
Steve Whiteway recalls, “Peter was often the first person they encountered when starting with the company, me included. He was a great instructor, patient but firm and had an excellent pass rate. He had a way with him, that gave you confidence and put you at your ease. He also knew every café on his various training routes! It didn’t finish there, once you passed your test, he was there to put you through type training and take you round all the locations we were likely to visit with our portfolio of tour operators and schools. Once established, Peter was back for the annual driving assessment. I generally passed, although not always without words of advice! A great number of us owe Peter a huge debt of gratitude, he will be sadly missed, but his legacy through his trainees and happy customers, lives on”.
Funeral/Celebration of life details are not known at time of publication.
